It might not ordinarily be deemed the most lucrative game in the field of gaming, but keno has massive amounts of devout fans. And it should! It’s a routinely thrilling lotto-like game that’s easy to play, abundantly available in tons of alternate formats, and one that can yield mega-dollars for people who learn its limitless subtle rules. But let’s begin with the beginner’s rules here.

When defining keno to beginners, some gambling pros compare it to lotto. This is at least partly correct, in that each game is generally numerical. But to take that comparison too far would be to discount the great many unique aspect that make keno so fun. Unlike bingo, keno players have the power to pick the numbers for every card.

Keno cards have a grand total of 80 numbers, but the gambler is granted an extra level of personal responsibility by being able to determine as many (or as few) numbers as he needs. And it doesn’t take a nuclear physicist to figure out how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark all your selected numbers with a ordinary#2 pencil like you had when you were in third grade.

Now that you have marked your numbers, carry the game card back to the keno pit manager at the keno booth. The nice person will record those numbers and then hand you a receipt. Don’t lose this (potentially) valuable bit of paper! Even if the keno pit manager remembers your face and wants help out, without a winning slip on you, you will get precisely $.00 for your efforts.

Ok, there you have strategy #1: always make sure to keep your keno receipt. Let us move to something a little bit more complex, shall we?

Once you’ve checked off your numbers, get into a comfortable keno booth and watch the action take place on the keno monitor. That is where the winning numbers are displayed for all to see. If you selected winners, mark your card aptly. Make sure not to dilly dally, or sit there praising yourself for too great a length of time. You want to get up to the keno stand to get your winnings, and a new keno game will certainly start within five minutes.

Strategy #2: always go back to the keno stand on time!

Since you do not trust yourself to meet that five-minute deadline every time, you always retain the option of purchasing a "multi-race" ticket. These include the self same set of your picked numbers on anywhere from 2 to twenty cards. When the maximum number of keno games (fitting the amount of tickets) is played, you can then get off your lazy rump and go collect your winnings.

Still another alternative is referred to as a "stray and play" keno card, which usually allows you make number selection for thirty games or more. Gosh, you can take all the time in the world and not have to get uptight about getting back in time to collect your numbers. Most "stray and play" game cards are good for up to a whole year after it’s purchased!

And now you have learned a number of essential strategies for winning keno. If you are an adept gambler, they may seem stupidly obvious. Still, it doesn’t hurt to bone up on the fundamentals, and if you are a newbie player, every bit of advice will help make your keno gambling more fun.
