It won’t usually be thought of as the sexiest game in the realm of wagering, but keno has huge amounts of devout fans. And why not? It’s a consistently entertaining lotto-style game that’s a breeze to learn, readily available in several different variations, and one that might return millions of dollars for those who master its many subtle rules. But let’s deal with the basic rules for now.

When defining keno to amateurs, some betting connoisseurs compare it to the lottery. This is at least in some ways apt, in that both games are essentially numerical. Yet to carry that comparison too far will be to downplay the great many unique characteristics that make keno so fun. Not like bingo, keno enthusiasts have the power to select the numbers for every card.

Keno cards have a total of 80 numbers, but the gambler is given an extra degree of personal responsibility by being able to select as many (or as few) numbers as he or she needs. And it doesn’t take a genius to ascertain how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark each of your selected numbers with a every day oldmarker like you had when you were in grade 3.

After you have checked your numbers, carry your card back to the keno pit manager at the keno booth. The person will record your numbers and then hand you a receipt. Don’t drop this (potentially) valuable bit of paper! Even if the keno pit manager remembers your pretty face and wants help out, without a winning ticket in hand, you will be given precisely $.00 for your efforts.

OK, so there you have strategy #1: always take care to keep your keno slip. Let’s advance to something a little more useful, ok?

After you’ve marked your numbers, settle into a comfortable keno booth and see the action unfold on a monitor. That’s where the winning numbers show up for us. If you’ve got winning numbers, mark your card aptly. Make sure not to drag your feet, or sit there congratulating yourself for an obnoxious length of time. You need to get up to the keno stand to collect your winnings, as a new keno game will almost certainly get going within a few minutes.

Strategy number 2: always make sure to get back to the keno booth on time!

Assuming you don’t trust yourself to meet that 5 minute deadline every time, you always have the option of buying a "multi-race" card. These include the same set of your picked numbers on anywhere from 2 to 20 tickets. When the maximum number of games (matching the amount of tickets) is finished, you will then be able to get off your lazy rump and go collect your winnings.

Another alternative is known as a "stray and play" keno slip, which normally lets you make number choices for 30 keno games or more. Golly, you can take vacation to Greece and not have to get uptight about getting back in time to redeem your winnings. Most "stray and play" tickets are good for up to a whole year after purchase!

And now you are aware of several indispensable schemes for winning keno. If you are an accomplished keno player, they might seem to be incredibly obvious. But it won’t hurt to brush up on the fundamentals, and if you are a beginner player, every bit of direction will help make your keno wagering more agreeable.
