Keno was first played in 200 before Christ by the Chinese military leader, Cheung Leung who utilized this game as a way to finance his failing forces. The city of Cheung was at war, and after a bit of war time appeared to be looking at a country wide shortage of food with the drastic drop in supplies. Cheung Leung had to create a rapid fix for the financial calamity and to produce money for his army. He therefore created the game we know today as keno and it was a wonderful success.

Keno once was well-known as the White Pigeon Game, due to the fact that the winning numbers were delivered by pigeons from bigger locations to the smaller villages. The lottery ‘Keno’ was brought to the US in the 19th century by Chinese migrants who migrated to the US to work. In those times, Keno used 120 numbers.

Today, Keno is typically bet on with eighty numbers in most of the US based casinos along with web casinos. Keno is mainly liked today as a result of the relaxed nature of playing the game and the simple reality that there are little skills needed to play Keno. Regardless of the reality that the odds of succeeding are appalling, there is always the possibility that you might hit quite big with very little gaming investment.

Keno is played with 80 numbers with 20 numbers drawn each round. Enthusiasts of Keno can select from 2 to ten numbers and wager on them, as much or as little as they are able to. The payout of Keno is according to the wagers made and the matching of numbers.

Keno grew in universal appeal in the United States near the end of the 1800’s when the Chinese letters were changed with more familiar, US numbers. Lottos were not covered under the legalization of gaming in the state of Nevada in Nineteen Thirty One. The casinos altered the name of the ‘Chinese lottery’ to ‘horse race keno’ utilizing the idea that the numbers are horses and you are looking for your horses to come in. When a law passed that levied a tax on off track wagering, casinos quickly changed the name to ‘Keno’.
