It won’t usually be considered the funnest game in the world of gambling, but keno has huge amounts of dedicated players. And it should! It’s a regularly exciting lottery-ish game that’s a snap to master, readily available in many assorted formats, and one that may yield mega-dollars for gamblers who learn its endless subtle intricacies. But let’s deal with the beginner’s rules here.

When explaining keno to newbies, some gambling connoisseurs compare it to lotto. This is at least in some measure correct, in that both games are basically numerical. Yet to take that comparison too far can be to underrate the great many unique traits that make keno so entertaining. Not like bingo, keno players have the freedom to select the numbers for every card.

Keno cards have a total of 80 numbers, but the gambler is furnished with an additional degree of personal responsibility by being able to determine as numerous (or as few) numbers as he needs. And it doesn’t take a genius to determine how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark all your handpicked numbers with a standard#2 pencil like you had back in school.

After you’ve selected your numbers, take your game card back to the keno pit manager at the keno stand. The clerk will record your numbers and then give you a receipt. Do not misplace this (potentially) valuable bit of paper! Even if the keno pit manager remembers your pretty face and wants help out, without a winning receipt in hand, you will win precisely $.00 for your time spent.

So, there you have strategy #1: always make sure to keep your keno ticket. Let us get on to something a bit more useful, yes?

Now that you’ve picked your numbers, settle into a comfy keno booth and see the action happen on a monitor. That’s where the winning numbers are displayed for all to see. If you picked winners, mark your card accordingly. Make sure not to take too much time, or sit there praising yourself for too great a length of time. You want to get back to the keno booth to collect your winnings, and then a new keno game will almost certainly start up within a few minutes.

Strategy number 2: always get back to the keno booth on time!

Since you don’t trust yourself to beat that five-minute margin each and every time, you always have the option of using a "multi-race" ticket. These include the very same set of your desired numbers on anywhere from two to 20 slips. When the max amount of keno games (matching the amount of tickets) is played, you are then able to get off your numb butt and go collect your winnings.

Yet an additional opportunity is known as a "stray and play" keno slip, which commonly allows you make number choices for 30 rounds or more. Golly, you can take vacation to France and not have to worry about getting back in time to get your winnings. Most "stray and play" game cards are good for up to a whole year after you by it!

So now you are aware of a number of necessary strategies for winning keno. If you are a knowledgeable player, they might appear to be quite obvious. However, it does not hurt to bone up on the basic strategies, and if you are a newbie user, every bit of advice will help make your keno playing more entertaining.
