Keno was first played in 200 before Christ by the Chinese military commander, Cheung Leung who utilized this game as a monetary resource for his declining army. The metropolis of Cheung was at war, and after a bit of war time appeared to be facing national famine with the drastic drop in supplies. Cheung Leung had to come up with a quick fix for the financial adversity and to create income for his military. He, as it follows designed the game we know today as keno and it was a fantastic success.

Keno used to be referred to as the White Pigeon Game, seeing as the winning numbers were broadcast by pigeons from bigger municipalities to the tinier villages. The lottery ‘Keno’ was imported to America in the 19th century by Chinese immigrants who headed to the United States to jobs. In those times, Keno was played with 120 numbers.

Today, Keno is typically played with just 80 numbers in almost all of American land based casinos along with net casinos. Keno is largely played today because of the relaxed nature of betting the game and the simple fact that there are no skills required to enjoy Keno.
